I had the pleasure of doing day-of-coordination for this awesome couple just a few weeks ago. I cannot say enough nice things about April and Jim and their beautiful wedding! First of all, April was a day-of-coordinator’s dream…super organized and on top of it! They made their wedding so personal, and incorporated lots of traditional Chinese customs- which was a first for me to enjoy! Thanks to the fantastic Frenzel Studios for sharing these beautiful photos!
The ceremony was held at the Church on USC’s campus. The bride and groom also had a Chinese Tea Ceremony prior and I loved all the outfit changes :)
Jim, the groom, is a junior high music teacher and orchestra conductor, his students played during the ceremony and Jim conducted during the processional! It was so sweet and one of the coolest things I have seen at a ceremony.
The reception was held at the Sheraton Delfina in Santa Monica. The red and yellow theme was reflected in the flowers, decor, candy bar, and special lighting that made the ballroom glow. The party started with another Chinese tradition- the lion dance- good luck for the bride and groom.
Here are April’s lesson’s learned from the day…
1. Hire a day of coordinator, best decision ever! Really allowed us to truly enjoy our day without a worry, even with the church fiasco!
2. Don’t sweat the small stuff. My family could have easily driven me nuts, in fact they were really starting to after the rehearsal. But my fiancé, now husband, reminded me that in the end, it really doesn’t matter, we’re getting married.
3. Be flexible with the timeline. We had to cut the game during our reception because we were a bit behind schedule. Don’t stress out about a timeline shift and just go with the flow. Thankfully, my bridesmaid who was in charge of and prepared for that game was totally ok with us not being able to do it.
Congrats to Jim and April!
